Ever since 1949, when Mao's Red Army invaded Tibet, the country has suffered incredible cultural and environmental destruction. 6000 ecclesiastical buildings have been destroyed with over 1.2 million Tibetans having lost their lives. Prostraiting Pilgrims & PLA soldiers. The pilgrims following the eight kilometer long Linkhor, wich encircles the old part of town. The pilgrims try to follow theire traditional routes as close as possible regardless of new obsticles in their way. Lhasa, Tibet 1998
